This 104 page book could be classified as the “Bible” of Hudson history and the backbone of the books that have been produced by the Hudson Historical Society since 1973.
The late John Thompson (another Hudson resident with roots dating back to the early 1800s) describes the story of Cavagnal (Hudson) and the Cumberland settlers who forged a tight community out of the wilderness in the first half of the 19th century.
Included is a chapter about Hudson’s connection with the Rebellion of 1837 and one of the most important additions to the book is a an appendix with most of the families of the early settlers listed between 1801 and 1838 and their immediate descendants.
Numerous old photos have been included of some of Hudson’s most famous residents and founders. If one wants to learn about the early days of Hudson, Quebec THIS is the book you must have.
